Jesus continues to school his disciples about love and trust and how we live. The story from the gospel this week is one that is easy to distort into a simple moral comparison or flatten into a basic exemplar of trust.
I don’t know about you, but when I hear the term “widow”, I have a tendency to think ‘old woman’. That’s my cultural bias. As you listen to this story, consider if it makes a difference to you to imagine a young woman with children putting her only money – not enough to live on anyway – into the temple offering bowl.
